a quick update

just a quick update on the innings and outings of my lifehood....
  • i'm finally back to the earners circuit again. tomorrow is going to be my third day of working at elan data makers. speed and accuracy is name of the game...and you're free to listen to your ipod while working. word.

  • i'm getting really habituated into busing and long walks in the morning. it's going to be my daily exercise. ppfffftttt...so much for spalady gym membership...which i'm still paying for. god can't wait for that damn contract to finish. anyways, yeah walking in the morning. my work is in downtown edmonton and walking there is kinda like walking in manhattan...only cleaner and no "no standing signs" and no honking and the streets aren't filled with yellow cabs. fine! it's nothing like walking in manhattan (coz being in manhattan is more than being in disneyland to me. word.)! so yeah what i do now as part of my commute is i walk 5 blocks to get to my office building. even though there's a bus that stops right in front of our building, i still went for the walking option. we'll see how will i par when it starts to snow.

  • my laptop has finally broken down. it has been doing very lousy since we came back from manila. there's a way to fix it by way of the recovery disks. but the one that i made when i bought the laptop is not fkin working. what's up with that pc? god can't wait to get a macbook. my best option now is to hire somebody to fix it for me. it's gruelingly sad that i don't know how to fkin work a laptop. i haven't done much with tweaking laptops coz back in the motherland, laptops were kind of a big deal when i was awakening my spring. thanks to my uber reliable ipod touch and its IM applications that lets me stay online. for the mean time, i'll be using the "everybody's computer" for all my computer needs.

  • save as much as you can before it's too late!....or move somewhere else while you still can...somewhere where gay people can legally marry. *blink* c-a-n-a-d-a *blink* c-a-n-a-d-a *blink* hahahahaha (yeah apparently that one goes out to my friends in the states lol and lance and bjorn. naks! sikat!)

  • and we ([tos]sers) are still keeping up with our fight to keep [title of show] on broadway. please visit titleofshow.com and get educated!

enjoy the rest of the week, barney bimbos!

find one song...one last refrain...glory

awww....RENT....i'm gonna miss it...even if i haven't actually tangibly seen it on stage.

in case you didn't hear it yet, the hot ticket, a part of sony pictures, released RENT to select movie theatres for four shows only on september 24th & 25th and 27th & 28th. yes, they filmed the final curtain call at the nederlander theatre. me and bujit went to see it on wednesday. it brought both of us to tears, specially when they showed a photo of jonathan larson at the end. it's really sad that he didn't get to experience the success of his creation. RENT has touched so many lives in so many different ways you could ever imagine. the song "christmas bells" reminds you that there are others who is in way deeper shit hole than you are.....then enter "seasons of love" reminding you to live your life one day at a time and to just accept the people around you. "i'll cover you" reminds you that true love still exists, even for gay people. then "without you" gives you a glimpse of what it would feel like if you lose someone you really really love.

RENT totally kicking ass lives up to its coined statement, "no day but today".

thank you, jonathan larson.

this is me telling 90 people

just reposting susan's entry....

Beloved Tossers:

As many of you know, it was announced last night that [title of show] will
conclude its run at the Lyceum on October 12th.

Thank you for all your support that each of continue to demonstrate, through buying tickets, listening to the CD, reading the blog, blogging, writing to us, sending us videos, taking your inspiration and creating your own work...it means the world to us.

Lots of feelings are being felt: sadness, pride, gratitude...and hope. Guess what: the story isn't over yet.

You may be feeling feelings, too. You also may be wondering what you can do. And here it is:

We want to
PACK the houses for the rest of the Lyceum run of [title of show]. If we can sell out these houses, then we have something to work with…and the possibility of another chapter of [title of show]. You can make a difference about what comes next…you can contribute to the shape of the future of [title of show].

What can you do?
*Tell 90 people to come see the show.
*Make and distribute your own [title of show] flyer.
*Post your own video encouraging people to buy tickets.
*Tell your co-workers and classmates and cast-mates and teachers and students and parents and children and friends and neighbors to come see the show as soon as possible.
*Get a group to see the show who has never seen it before.
*Find a creative way to turn your passion about the show into ticket sales.

Time is of the essence.

Remain open, passionate and optimistic.

The adventure continues, people.

Love and gratitude,
Hunter, Jeff, Heidi, Susan, Michael, Courtney, Benjamin & Larry

PS: Keep your eye on the blog for further instructions...

get a what now?

"get a job!" those are the exact words from my cool geeky godsister. well as far as job hunting goes, i already submitted my resume to various companies around the city via email. luckily, i received 1 email reply and 1 phone call. both responses are for interview appointments next week. snaaaps! i also sent my resume to apple. yeah apple. i didn't apply for the genius position....well i'm not a mac user...how do you expect me to tweek mac stuff? so i applied for the inventory specialist position instead. i was an awesome (i'm not bragging. i'm just quoting my previous boss.) order writer at my previous job and i can freakin bananas multitask as well. so yeah i figured i can handle apple. there's nothing else to do but hope and pray that they would call soon before i get hired by somebody else. wish me a gazzilion luck. yeah i command you to.

man, i'm tired of doing nothing. i'm getting a little cornball crazy in the head. plus this yo-yo-ing weight going on...arrrrghhhh...i can't wait for that day where i'd be happy to punch you in your pair and say, with all my chita rivera dancing might, "suck on that, herbalife!"

$200 words

you know what else i love about musicals aside from the dancing on tables and mooing with the green witch? the gnarly perplex words that gives the so-called "depth" to the songs. well i don't think "jellicle" counts because it is a proper noun. here's a tanga moment....when i first heard the jellicle songs for jellicle cats from cats, i thought they were singing about cats who like jellies or something about angelical cats.

i don't know all the words and these words gave me the itch to dictionary.com them.....
assuage - to soothe or calm
gloats - feeling of self-satisfaction
vermin - loathsome person
dexterity - cleverness
digress - to deviate
vizier - a high official in certain muslim countries
pious - showing appropriate respect
meander - to move aimlessly and idly without fixed direction
pedantical - overly concerned with minute details of formalisms
cohort - band of people
hoi polloi - the masses
moat - a deep wide ditch, usually filled with water, typically
surrounding a castle as a protection against assault
l'chaim - a jewish salutation meaning "to life!"

then there's the spanish words on in the heights that you really need to google specially if you know squat about spanish words. props to my being filipino, thank you very much. then enter galinda's words such as proudliest and rejoicify.

alright since i'm talking musical again, maybe i should blog about forbidden broadway as well. it was announced the other that the show, after 27 years, will take its final curtain call on january 15, 2009. "what the hell forbidden broadway is?" one might ask. forbidden broadway is an off-broadway satirical revue featuring parodies of other broadway shows. forbidden broadway has mocked popular shows like wicked, miss saigon, les miz, annie, hairspray, the lion king, music man, rent, and spring awakening. recent reports said that [title of show] and in the heights are now part of the mock list. people who has seen this show have been raving about it for years. "very hilarious. it's like watching 20 broadway shows in one night" is what those people would generally say about the show. me wants to see it!

spawning

two weeks ago, i received an e-mail from very good friend in the philippines telling me that she is 7 weeks pregnant. i got really excited for her. if i'm not mistaken, my heart even skipped a beat. when i went to visit her while i was in the motherland, she told me that they've been trying to get pregnant since after the wedding in early april. lo and behold they are now blessed with a bouncing fetus. awesome.

which brings my memory to an event last week when me and my cousins were playing with baby names. there were pretty cool names like....

skylar xerxes (skylar from skylar astin and xerxes as in king xerxes of persia)

chmerkovskiy (from maksim chmerkoskiy)

novak (as in novak djokovic)

ilia dimitrov (both from tennis players)

ayos diba? well those are all boys' names. i need to get my thinking chair on for girls' names. i need to come up with a good mash up for the names andrea mcardle, idina menzel, kristin chenoweth, laura benanti, kate shindle, susan blackwell, heidi blickenstaff, annaleigh ashford and of course patti lupone.

whoa! yeah that is gonna be a freakin thinker. my kid's name will end up as an acronym lol.

according to my horoscope...

"Don't strategize life based on how much money you want. Focus on quality of life."

i've been in the realms of unemployment since april. i don't regret being a bum for the last 4 months and 2 weeks coz i've been away most of the time anyways lol.
since we moved to canada, this is only the summer that i really got to enjoy. i've been on vacay mode since april. i got to see places that i've never seen before...historical places...tourist dstinations...relatives who i'll be meeting for the first time...and friends that i haven't seen for quite a while.

first stop, philippines, the loathingly (as others would react to its environment) welcoming lovable country in southeast asia. i stayed there for 7 weeks. it was very hot and humid over there. i loved it! coming from one of the coldest cities in canada, i must say that i enjoyed manila weather a lot. we were sweating swine style like hell. i didn't complain much because weather in edmonton doesn't go up like that at all. i'll blog about the philippines trip next time.

after philippines, i went back home to canada and bummed around some more for more than a month. made some phone calls...watched the [title of show] show on youtube...tried to go to the gym a couple of times (apparently nothing has changed....size wise)...gave monica the responsibility of baking me cookies...and a shitload of bumming crap.

come second weekend of august, me and my mom left for maryland to visit her cousin. our relatives there are very nice and accomodating. it was the first time that i've met them and thankfully we hit it off right away. while in maryland, we managed to visit washington d.c., virginia, and of course, the center of the universe, NYC! i'll blog about that trip next time as well.

after spending a week in the east coast, mom and i flew to san francisco. it was mom's first time in the bay area and she liked it...better than socal, she says. from san francisco, i went to los angeles for a week to visit my friends. even though it was "bitin", it was totally worth it. spending gollum (meaning precious) time with my bestfriends is all that there is. everytime we do our little get togethers, it would always seem as though it has only been a day since the last time we saw each other. in reality, we'll be counting months instead of days sometimes years. getting a little teary eyed here lol hey hey but in all seriousness, i know i am blessed with such cramazingly (thanks for the mashed up word, hunter) awesome friends. i know i can run to them no matter how deep the shithole i am in is. naks! hell yeah i am that fuckin confident with my bestfriends.

after los angeles i went back to the bay area again. my cousins from san jose drove down to santa monica to kinda pick me up.

i'll be coming home to canada on monday. i am coming home as a broke yuppy. thank god my parents didn't teach me how to mooch on other people because that is just straight up sick. even if i'm dead ass broke, i'm happy. i enjoyed this summer a lot. i got to see new york city which was really awesome. i've been wanting to experience nyc for the longest time now. i still can't believe that i've actually been there. it still feels likes a dream...a total blur. just like what i've felt when i first stepped out of the staten island ferry. i loved it!

"focus on the quality of life"....i will not trade the "quality" of life i'm living right now...yeah even though i'm broke. ok i guess i'm gonna trade it if i'm gonna be idina menzel for even just a day. omg! taye diggs!

cali....again

i'm in california again. yay! as always, i'm staying at my cousins' in san jose. but luckily, i never fail to fly down to los angeles to visit my "beshfwendsh" (naks!). i always see to it that i visit them everytime i come to cali. oh and finally i got to hang out with ate abby hehehe. our meeting was long damn overdue. so this time, we maximized it big time. i got to chillax with kuya barok too which is realy cool.

this is my third visit to cali and i'm still liking it down here. there's a fat chance that i'm gonna come back again early next year for a very awesome special reason. just wait and see...errr...read hehe

walang personalan

Energetic Doer (ED) (Just visiting? Take the free test and determine your personality type!)

My personality type: the energetic doer Energetic Doers are cheerful and spontaneous persons. They are charming and full of energy and real persons of action. They keep a clear head and the overview even in difficult situations. This makes them popular problem solvers. Their ability of being able to absorb and process information is phenomenal. Energetic Doers also have strong powers of observation and a keen sense when dealing with other people. They are very perceptive, witty and clever. They have a natural ability of convincing others of their point of view. Energetic Doers live completely in the here and now and make spontaneous decisions from one moment to the next. They love being together with other people and are sensuous, lively and amusing conversationalists. It is no problem for them to be the effervescent centre of attention at a party and they are generous, skilful and good hosts. They do not brood over consequences for long; they quickly grasp all the relevant facts, make a pragmatic decision and enforce that decision vigorously. Should a decision later turn out to have been wrong, one can always make new plans.

Energetic Doers magically attract fun and action. They need the kick - as far as possible with other people. Many representatives of this type have dangerous hobbies or go in for extreme sports. They quite consciously put themselves in dangerous situations again and again. At work too, Energetic Doers seek fun and variety above all. They are bored to death by routine, safety and calculability. Crises are their elixir of life and really bring their strong points to light. They react to new challenges flexibly and effectively. They gain their confidence from their imperturbable self-assuredness that they will be able to cope with them. Energetic Doers prefer practical activities which lead to visible results rather than theoretical fields of work. Endless discussions with colleagues quickly get on their nerves and they do not have the patience for interpersonal niceties. They say how something has to be done and that’s that!

Energetic Doers keep their friends in suspense with their wit, esprit and quickness in repartee. They mostly have a large circle of friends and acquaintances but often remain non-committal in their relationships. They expect a great deal of reliability and tolerance from their really good friends but are also willing to give the same to them. However, due to their spontaneous nature, they always remain a little surprising and unpredictable, also for their partners. Energetic Doers need a lot of space and time to themselves; they quickly feel hemmed in if their partners cling too strongly to them. But if you give them plenty of leeway, they are generous, cheerful and extremely imaginative life companions with whom you can have a lot of fun and enjoy life to the full. They do not avoid conflicts but address them openly and sometimes sparks can really fly. But this is typical for Energetic Doers and, afterwards, they are all the more devoted and loving.

Adjectives which describe your type: extroverted, practical, logical, spontaneous, resolved, direct, objective, conscientious, attentive, likes taking risks, cheerful, impulsive, optimistic, sociable, enthusing, full of the joys of life, aggressive, inconsiderate, dynamic, lively, rash, competition-oriented, action-loving, energetic, charming, superior, solution-oriented, adventurous, go-ahead, changeable, outgoing.

These subjects could interest you: sport, going out, parties, travel, riding a motorbike, action, music, trekking, camping, hiking, literature, writing, strategy games, politics.
